About Us

In 1974, Wes Reinheller and 3 partners formed the company Medican in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. After its conception in 1974, Medican grew as a company very quickly, and along with a profitable sidewalk operation, it also began to build commercial projects and single family houses. Eventually Medican was selling homes as fast as they could build them, and also expanded into other areas, including partnering in several other businesses and real estate speculation.

The company began to shift and grow again in a positive, manageable way, and eventually Wes bought out his brother's shares to become the sole owner of the company. Medican would continue to build sidewalks, but Wes, true to his visionary leadership, moved the general direction of the company yet again; this time to the construction of luxury adult condominiums.

Medican was truly a pioneer of the now common practice of building four storey wooden structures. As well, Medican led the way in introducing into Southern Alberta luxury condominiums designed for a specific age group. With an age restriction of 40 plus, Medican's luxury adult condominium communities are cutting edge with amenities that other developers just don't offer.

Medican has also realized the growing interest of destination properties, and is making the leap easily. Crossbow Point in Canmore offers the same exciting amenities and lifestyle as all the Medican adult communities, but in a location that entices many buyers looking for high-end vacation homes. The company has also partnered with a landowner on Mont Brome, a popular mountain and ski-hill in Bromont, Quebec, and development planning is underway for a multi-building community called Cercle des Cantons.

Medican has not forgotten about those just starting out, looking to purchase their first home. The company is also expanding into the area of condominiums for all ages. The Axxess line is well underway with the first development planned for Medicine Hat, and promises to be a huge success. Axxess condominiums are built with the same quality and attention to detail as Medican strives for with all its projects, but will be accessible to a much wider range of purchasers. Axxess will soon expand throughout Alberta and into Ontario.
